Musical Inclinations

Image
Boo! It's me again. Did I scare you? Probably not, seeing as you are here reading my blog, but I figured it was a worthy attempt in honor of Halloween. Maybe it would be more appropriate to sing a Christmas Carol or something since Halloween is over. I hear FM 100 has already started playing their Christmas songs. How exciting! I love this time of the year. Anyway, thanks for reading. I've really had troubles trying to decide what part of myself to define next. There's been a lot on my mind lately, but as I've started writing this post, I've never been able to finish it. Until now. I finally came up with the next thing that defines me and it's music. I love music! It's been a huge part of my life and continues to influence a lot of what I do. It's funny how my interests have changed over the years. I hope you don't mind while I reminisce a little bit about my life with respect to music. My earliest memories of music include a lot of country music whi...

Imaginator Extraordinaire

Image
I felt like it's time for another self-defining blog posts, but I couldn't think of anything amazing to write about. Then I realized something so extremely unique about myself that I couldn't help but spew out this amazing gift on my blog. I am an Imaginator Extraordinaire. I know what you're thinking and yes, I am that cool. Okay so maybe you weren't thinking that. In fact, you're probably thinking, what the heck is this guy talking about? (Next week I will tell you about how I'm psychic and know what everyone's thinking, but for now will stick with this). Well, I love to imagine. I love to dream. I love to get carried away on strange fantasies where I have some unique gift that can save humanity. I love to ponder about how I might act in different roles of life: as president, husband, CEO, TV star, or just plain old Joe the Plumber. (Couldn't resist...) I remember growing up I used to watch this show called Sliders. I used to imagine that it was re...

Ruler

I know what you're thinking. Two posts in one day....Tyler, you need a life. Okay maybe you're not thinking that, but I am. I decided to split this into a separate post because the previous one was more a precursor to the overall concept of this blog. So that being said, let me tell you what I've learned about myself today. In institute we were studying Adam and Eve and I discovered something that I really have tried to be in the past and understand better about myself now. In Moses 4:22, it says that Adam shall rule over Eve. I want that attribute. Now before you think I'm a sexist jerk, let me show you another scripture. If you look at Matt. 2:6 it talks about how Christ shall rule the people of Israel. The Greek translation (shown in the footnote letter d) explains what this means. To rule means to tend, protect and nurture. That's me, or at least what I've tried to be for most of my life. I love to care for people. I'm so looking forward to the day when ...

Unique

Surprise! It's me again. I'm back trying to figure out a little bit more about who I am. I've pondered this next post a lot. It's really easy to define the foundation that I am a son of God, but what do you say to follow that? Doesn't that pretty much say it all? The fact is, not really. I am a son of God and that's important, but the real question is what makes me unique? Why am I the person I am? What do I do for fun? What kind of person do I aspire to be? Well as I've pondered all this, I realized, I can't really prioritize the aspects of my life. So I'll just write them as I come up with them. This means that some posts might be very serious, while others are less important and seem like jokes. The fact is, that's my life. So, ready or not, here we go...

New Beginnings

I've been thinking a lot lately. I've been think a ton lately. Okay, let's be honest, I've been thinking so much that I think I'm starting to go a little bit crazy. Maybe I should say, a little more crazy. Anyway, what have I been thinking about? Life, the universe and everything. And I've come to a conclusion. The answer is 42. No, just kidding. That's really not it. But I have been thinking a lot about life and where I fit in. And I did come to a conclusion: I don't really know who I am. Sure, I'm Tyler Tolley, but I have no idea what that means. It seems everyday I'm redefining a new aspect of my life. Some days I wish I were a cowboy and some days I wish I were the president of the United States. The fact is, I really don't know who I am and that's so cool! I used to be really frustrated because I couldn't decide who or what I wanted to be, but now I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to choose! Isn't that such a gre...
